What are some steps prior to starting treatment?
When you decide on a treatment with your clinician, you may be recommended specific tests to make sure the medication is right for you.
The tests needed will vary for every medication. We have only provided a few examples below. There may be other tests that are not mentioned that may be given prior, during, or after IBD treatment.
You might be tested for infections, such as tuberculosis (TB), hepatitis B, among others, depending on your individual risk.
Your clinician may conduct blood work and/or a physical exam, which may include heart tests and/or eye exams.
Your clinician may want to bring your vaccinations up to date.
